You can have the hydrafacial immediately prior to microneedling. If your skin is especially congested, we recommend biweekly hydrafacials leading up to your microneedling treatment.

The products you use on a daily basis are critical to maintaining the results from your microneedling treatment. At ZL, we recommend Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar prior to receiving a microneedling treatment. Is it painful?

At ZL, we have custom numbing crème applied before your treatment, so the process is essentially pain free. Our patients say it feels like light sandpaper is rubbed across the face. The treatment can take anywhere from 20-40 minutes.

How much downtime?

This varies greatly from person to person, but plan on 2-4 days of improving redness. After the first 24 hours, light makeup can be used. At ZL, we send you home with customized recovery products to improve redness and optimize your results.

How many treatments will I need?

To maintain skin texture and tone we recommend 3-4 treatments a year. However, for certain conditions such as scarring or deeper lines and wrinkles, we commonly recommend 4-6 treatments every month and then maintenance treatments every few months.

How soon will I see results?

You will notice improved tone and a brighter complexion after the redness resolves in the first week. Full improvement takes several weeks to months depending on extent of skin condition which was treated.

What Should I Know Before Getting SkinPen Microneedling?

We recommend coming in for a complimentary consultation to discuss your customized treatment plan.
You’ll want to minimize sun exposure for the first week after treatment, so don’t have this treatment right before a trip to the beach or any extensive sun exposure!
If you are getting ready for a big event, such as a wedding, we recommend starting treatments 3 months prior to the event so the results are achieved at the perfect time for the big reveal.
If you have current acne, we typically recommend waiting for a microneedle treatment and instead will decongest the skin with hydrafacials, a home regimen, and peels.
