If the term “minimally invasive surgery” sounds strange to you, you’re not alone. Many individuals aren’t sure what this means. Minimally invasive surgery typically refers to procedures that use small incisions rather than a large opening. Although minimally invasive surgery isn’t as extensive as procedures such as breast augmentation or rhinoplasty, it is still very important to only work with a board-certified plastic surgeon when choosing these services.
Treatment for skin laxity around the eyes can often be improved significantly with lasers. Laser blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) decreases downtime and has the added benefit of improving the skin strength and texture. Occasionally lasers are combined with a traditional surgical blepharoplasty in the office for improved outcomes.
Heavy eyelids are very common, and can create a tired or sad-looking appearance. Surgical excision is performed to remove the excess skin, and the incision is carefully hidden in the natural crease of the lid. Lower eyelids are tightened with a laser, and fat pockets under the eyes may require a small excision.
Many people are bothered by unsightly moles, recurrent cysts, or a scar that never healed quite right. A local numbing agent is applied to the area so that anesthesia is not needed. These simple procedures take place in our office, allowing our patients to take care of these nuisances easily and painlessly. A proper closure by a plastic surgeon followed by our scar prevention protocol will ensure your little procedure won’t leave behind a scar.
The definitive treatment for deep lines, wrinkles, or scars is laser resurfacing. This involves vaporization of the outer layers of the skin to reveal new, younger-looking skin. The Sciton® erbium laser provides optimal results with less downtime and less discomfort than traditional CO2 laser resurfacing.
Dr. Larson is renowned for his liposuction technique. Tumescent anesthesia is used to numb the area completely, making the procedure very tolerable. Provided the amount of fat to be removed in a single sitting is within a safe limit, you may be a candidate to undergo this procedure in the office without general anesthesia. Typical areas are the chin, abdomen, arms, thighs, and the chest area.
