When Should I Start Getting Injectables?
Injectables have revolutionized the way we think of cosmetic procedures. In some cases, they can even be used in lieu of more invasive procedures. With minimal recovery time and few side effects, injectables allow you to get back to doing what you love without downtime. ZL MedAesthetics is proud to offer many different types of injectables, and clear up any confusion about the right age to start considering these safe and effective treatments.
What age is ideal for injectables?
Many people think they should wait until they have considerable wrinkles or other signs of aging before opting for injectables. However, sometimes if you wait too long and you have severe wrinkles or sagging skin, injectables may not be as effective for you. Starting early is key to maintaining a youthful look and delaying the need for more invasive measures.
Injectables can be used as preventive care at the first sign of fine lines. Collagen production slows down as early as your mid-twenties, and that is when most people begin to notice subtle signs of aging.
Which injectables are right for me?
There are many options available today for injectables. Each one works differently or has a different concentration to treat a variety of concerns. We are here to help you understand your options and what they might be used for. At ZL MedAesthetics, our injectables include:
- BOTOX and Dysport, which work by freezing muscle contractions in the treated area. They use different shaped molecules paired with different viscosity to deliver unique treatment to fit your needs.
- Juvéderm and Restylane both use hyaluronic acid to provide a natural glow. They can be used to address loss of volume in the cheeks, augment the lips, and smooth out wrinkles.
Our combination of injectables will not only smooth out wrinkles, but they can also be used to address dark circles under the eyes or define the chin and jawline. Laura Zimmerman NP is highly skilled and precise when working with injectables, and small amounts are used to balance out your facial features and take years off your appearance.
What if I don’t see obvious signs of aging?
Since you look at your face every day in the mirror, it can be hard to notice small changes over time. Fine lines start as just that – fine creases in your skin that are hardly noticeable at first. However, it could be time to consider injectables if you start to notice that you have frown lines or creases in between your eyebrows that don’t go away when your face is at rest. Don’t wait until you have deep creases or sunken cheeks, because preventive injections can help you delay the development of those obvious signs of aging.
How often will I need maintenance injections?
Each type of injectable will begin to dissipate over time and you may need maintenance treatments to avoid those pesky signs of aging returning. For example, if you received BOTOX you may need maintenance treatments approximately two to three times per year, while other products from the Juvéderm line can last up to two years. We can work with you to create a long-term treatment plan, or you can request maintenance treatments on an as-needed basis.
